Tax Filing For 2007 Will Be Delayed For ManySubmitted by taxman on January 26, 2008 - 2:37pm.
Due to the late passage of legislation by Congress to "PATCH" the alternative minimum tax, personal income tax filing for as many 13.5 million people will be delayed for the 2007 tax filing season (2008). Returns that have mortgage credits, education credits, residential energy credits, or District of Columbia First Time Homebuyer credit will all be delayed until at least February 11, 2008. My biggest problem with this whole thing is that the politicians know that this is an ongoing problem and they lack the courage to make a permanent fix. It is ridiculous that a law that is known to be bad (it was passed and not indexed for inflation many years ago) will not be fixed because our country lacks leadership interested in doing anything that does no score political points or add power to their base. It is an indictment of our Nations Politicians. ( categories: )
